Arborist Reports and Certification

Proper tree care is an investment, and trees are valuable, often the most valuable items in a landscape design. Choosing a certified arborist assures the client that they are dealing with a trained individual with years of experience in tree care. All certified arborists are accountable to maintain high standards: quality work, correct pruning techniques based on research, and ongoing professional development to remain certified. ISA maintains rigorous standards for maintaining certification. Certification is renewed every three years and is dependent upon continued professional training.

Certification is not a guarantee that all certified arborists are exceptional, but certainly, it is one important criterion when determining who to select for tree service needs. Unfortunately, many unemployed loggers can readily buy a truck and chipper and call themselves tree specialists. Hiring a certified arborist increases the likelihood your work will be done professionally. The largest association of tree professionals is ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) with over 20, 000 members in many countries. Often certified arborists supervise the pruning or removal, and the actual work is performed by experienced tree trimmers, following such standards as set out by ISA or other associations.
